Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote the engineering and information technology profession to individuals from groups historically underrepresented in engineering. Focus: Chemical engineering; Mechanical, Engineering; Computer and information sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must: be full-time undergraduate students majoring only in Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information technology (computer science, management information systems, IST); be enrolled as a junior in fall; have a minimum GPA of 3.0; be women and/or members of the following minority groups: American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander. Student must be accepted at, or currently attending, one of 84 member colleges and universities of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $7,500. To Apply: Application forms are available at the Financial Aid office; applicant must submit complete application materials to Mary Maronic, Foundation Associate, Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. A complete application consists of a completed, signed application form, a copy of the student's transcript, a resume and an essay; the candidate may submit a letter of recommendation. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time undergraduate students majoring in Civil, Environmental or Architectural Engineering only; enrolled as juniors in the fall; maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0; women and/or members of the following minority groups: American Indians or Alaska Natives, Asians, Black or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders. Student must be accepted at, or currently attending, one of 84 member colleges and universities of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. Purpose: To provide scholarship to the students who have shown an extraordinary commitment to community service and who have demonstrated creativity in shaping their volunteer activities. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student with an extraordinary commitment to community service and who has demonstrated creativity in shaping his/her volunteer activities. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 7. To Apply: Applicants must write a brief essay describing their college experience, and focusing upon the answers to the following: what volunteer/extracurricular activities do they participate in, either on or off campus; how do their community service activities relate to their major and what leadership roles have they taken; what are their career/academic goals upon graduation; how will they remain involved in their community upon graduation. Applicants should include any additional information that they feel will be helpful in choosing them as a recipients of the Commonwealth “Good Citizen” Scholarship; must limit essay to two double-spaced pages (essay must have 1-inch margins) with a font that is easily readable and set no smaller than 11. HDR Engineering, Inc. Scholarship for Diversity in Engineering (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Applicants must be accepted at, or currently attending, one of 84 member colleges and universities of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. McLean Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in a Nursing or Physician's Assistant program. Focus: Nursing. Qualif.: Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a Nursing or Physician Assistant program at one of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania's member institutions, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Ideal candidates are campus leaders and community volunteers. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

Funds Avail.: $2,500. Number Awarded: 7. To Apply: Application forms are available at the Financial Aid office. Along with the completed applications, students may submit a copy of their transcript, a letter of recommendation, and any other materials that they feel will be helpful to the committee in making their decision. Students must also submit a brief essay describing their college experience, including

the following information: why they chose their major; What steps they are taking to ensure that they succeed in their major; what they plan to do upon graduating and their academic/career goals. Applicants should also describe the primary volunteer/extracurricular activities in which they participate; how these activities relate to their major and what leadership roles they have taken. Completed applications should be returned to the applicants' Financial Aid office, which will then select one application to submit to AI-CUP. Deadline: April 29.
