SIDELIGHTS:
Carol Simpson told CA: "My interest in copyright in particular began when I was put in charge of a large media distribution system in the high school where I was the librarian. Knowing I would be the one 'pushing the button' on all that media, I became concerned that the media I was seeing were not compliant with the guidelines for use of copyrighted materials in schools. I began researching the issue. The whole topic is like an onion: layer after layer of complexity. The more I learned, the more I knew I needed to learn. It is a process that continues to this day."
