Community Environment:
Acadia University is located in the Annapolis Valley town of Wolfville, 100 kilometers northwest of Halifax. The main buildings are on a high terraced slope, facing the broad diked meadows of the Evangeline Country and the Minas Basin, the body of water in the northeastern part of the Bay of Fundy. Wolfville is a beautiful, residential town of 3,000 people, with four churches and good elementary and secondary schools.

Sydney, part of the Regional Municipality of Cape Breton, is on Cape Breton Island, which is at the northeast end of Nova Scotia. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. Sydney is an industrial city with a self-contained steel plant. It is also a port city. There are numerous historical sites and recreational facilities. A major restoration project being undertaken on Cape Breton Island is at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Park.
