Seibel, Klauspeter

Seibel, KlauSpeter, German conductor; b. Offenbach, May 7, 1936. He received training in Nuremberg and Munich. Following his conducting debut at Munich’s Gärtnerplatz State Theatre in 1957, he conducted opera in Freiburg im Breisgau (1963–65), Lübeck (1965–67), Kassel (1967–71), and Frankfurt am Main (1971–75). In 1975 he became Generalmusikdirektor in Freiburg im Breisgau, a position he retained until 1981. He also served as music director of the Nuremberg Sym. Orch. (from 1975). From 1987 to 1995 he was Generalmusikdirektor in Kiel. In 1995 he became music director of the La. Phil, in New Orleans and in 1997 Generalmusikdirektor of the Frankfurt am Main Opera.
