Schuh, Oscar Fritz (b Munich, 1904; d Salzburg, 1984). Ger. director and administrator. Began career as th. producer in Munich, 1923 ( Hauptmann's Hanneles Himmelfahrt). After working in several cities, incl. Darmstadt and Prague, became res. prod. at Vienna Opera and then Intendant of Berlin Freie Volksbühne. Intendant, Cologne State Theatres 1959–62, Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Hamburg, 1962–8. Salzburg Fest. début as prod. 1946 (Le nozze di Figaro). CG début 1962. Famed prods. of Mozart and Strauss in Munich, Vienna, and Salzburg.
