Vronsky, Vitya (1909—)
Russian pianist. Name variations: Viktoria. Born in Evpatoria, Russian Crimea, on August 22, 1909; married Victor Babin (1908–1972, a pianist), in 1933.
Vitya Vronsky was born in Evpatoria, Russian Crimea, in 1909, and began her studies at the Kiev Conservatory. After she and her family fled Russia, she studied in Berlin with Artur Schnabel and Egon Petri; additional studies were undertaken in Paris with Alfred Cortot. Vronsky began her concert career in 1930. After she married Victor Babin in 1933, they established a highly successful duo-piano team. They emigrated to the United States in 1937, where their joint career blossomed. The Babin-Vronsky duo made many recordings over the decades.
