American cartoonist. Born in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1893; attended the Art Students League of New York.
Born into a newspaper family, Edwina Dumm took a correspondence course in cartooning, after which she was hired as a political cartoonist for a Columbus, Ohio, newspaper. Around 1918, while attending the Art Students League of New York, she was recruited by the George Matthew Adams Syndicate to create a comic strip about a boy and his dog.
