Dumitrescu, Ion

Dumitrescu, Ion, Romanian composer and pedagogue, brother of Gheorghe Dumitrescu; b. Oteani, June 1, 1913; d. Bucharest, Sept. 6, 1996. He studied at the Bucharest Cons. (1933–40), where he was a prof, from 1944 to 1979. From 1963 to 1977 he also was chairman of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania.
