Augusta of Schleswig-Holstein (1858–1921)
Empress of Germany. Name variations: Augusta Victoria; (Ger.) Auguste Viktoria. Born Augusta Victoria Fredericka Louise Feodore Jenny on October 22, 1858, in Dolzig, Germany; died on April 11, 1921, at Doorn, Netherlands; eldest daughter of Frederick, duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenberg, and Adelaide of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1835–1900); married William II (1859–1941), also known as Wilhelm II, kaiser of Germany (r. 1888–1918), on February 27, 1881; children: Frederick William (1885–1951, crown prince of Prussia, who married Cecilia of Mecklenburg-Schwerin ); Eitel-Frederick (1883–1942, who married Sophie Charlotte of Oldenburg ); Augustus William (1887–1949, who married Alexandra Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein ); Adalbert (who married Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen ); Oscar; Joachim (who married Marie of Anhalt ); Victoria Louise (1892–1980, who married Ernest Augustus of Cumberland). Following the death of Augusta in 1921, Wilhelm II married Hermine of Reuss on November 5, 1922.
