Steinbach, Sabina von (fl. 13th c.)
Austrian sculptor. Flourished in the 13th century in Strasbourg.
Sabina von Steinbach was a popular, talented Austrian sculptor, but few facts are clear about her life. She was trained in the arts by her father, who was himself a sculptor, and eventually gained her own patrons; she continued to assist her father on his largest commissions. It is recorded that Sabina worked on the intricate stone carvings of the great cathedral of Strasbourg, her only known commissioned project.
