Hoyers, Anna Ovena (1584–1655)

German poet. Born Anna Ovena, 1584, in Koldenbüttel, Schleswig; died Sept 27, 1655, in Gut Sittwik, near Stockholm, Sweden; dau. of astronomer Johann Oven; m. Hermann Hoyer (died 1622); children: 9.

Knew Latin, Greek, and Hebrew; after husband's death, began participating in public religious debates and was exiled to Sweden by Protestants for heresy; wrote religious pamphlets, songs, and poems; published Geistliche un Weltliche Poemata (1650).
