Sherwood, Carlton M(ontgomery)(1895-1970)
Financial counselor also active in the field of parapsychology. He was born on April 12, 1895, in Buffalo, New York. After serving in the Army during World War I, he worked for various agencies, mostly Christian organizations, through the next two decades. They included the New York State Christian Endeavor Union (1919-27), the Citizens Committee of 100 (1926-36), and the International Society of Christian Endeavor (1926-34). He edited Christian Endeavour World (1930-34). After two years as the executive director of Associated Boards for Christian Colleges in China (1934-36) he began a long tenure as president of Pierce, Hedrick & Sherwood, counselors in institutional financing.
Over the years he became interested in psychical research. He joined and served on the boards of both the Parapsychology Foundation and the American Society for Psychical Research. He was also a member of the Society for Psychical Research, London, and chaired the Conference on Parapsychology and Psychedelics, New York, November 1958. He died on September 14, 1970.
