New Caledonian floral region Part of R. Good's (1974, The Geography of the Flowering Plants) Polynesian floral subkingdom, within his Palaeotropical floral kingdom, which also includes Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands. It has a remarkably rich flora, with a high degree of endemism. Some of the endemic genera, of which there are well over 100, constitute separate families (or nearly so). See also floral province and floristic region.
