Hymenophyllaceae A family of filmy ferns with gradate sori on the frond margins, and thin, membranaceous fronds with the lamina only 1 cell thick. At present 33 genera and some 465 species are accepted. They are found mostly in the moist tropics, but with a few genera extending into mild oceanic temperate areas, where they occur mainly in very humid, shady habitats.
