National Association of Pastoral Musicians Academic Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist with the cost of education formation for pastoral musicians. Focus: Music. Qualif.: Applicants must be NPM members; part-time or full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program of studies related to the field of pastoral music during the 2008-2009 school year; and must intend to work at least two years in the field of pastoral music following graduation/program completion. Criteria: Candidates must demonstrate financial need.

Funds Avail.: $34,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit letter or short essay containing the following information: name and contact information including address, home and work phone, and email; definition of the term “pastoral musician”; description of talents; previous experience as pastoral musician; educational background, educational program enrolled; recording (cassette or CD format) demonstrating solo performance skills or those of an ensemble under applicants’ direction; two letters of recommendation, including one written by pastor; and completed financial need statement. Deadline: March 7.

NPM Program Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist pastoral musicians with limited financial resources in taking advantage of opportunities for continuing formation at NPM conventions and institutes. Focus: Music. Qualif.: Applicants must be NPM members and should be from economically disadvantaged parishes. Criteria: Recipient will be selected based on financial need.

Funds Avail.: No amount mentioned. To Apply: Applicants must submit completed NPM Program Scholarship Application and the NPM Program Scholarship Applicant’s letter; and parish recommendation completed by your pastor or pastoral administrator.
