LEVI, MARIO
LEVI, MARIO (1957– ), novelist. Born in Istanbul to a Sephardi family, he graduated from the Istanbul University Faculty of Literature, majoring in French language and literature. He first published in the Jewish community newspaper ?alom and later on started to contribute to leading Turkish journals. His first book was Jacques Brel: Bir Yaln?z Adam (1986). His first book of stories, Bir ?ehre Gidememek, was published in 1990 and earned the prestigious Haldun Taner Story award. His subsequent works were Madam Floridis Dönmeyebilir (1992), En Güzel A?k Hikâyemiz (1992), and his novel ?stanbul Bir Masald? (1999) which also earned the prestigious Yunus Nadi award.
