Śūnyatāvādin

Śūnyatāvādin (Skt., śūnyatā, ‘emptiness’, + vādin, ‘teacher of’). Loosely used to denote a follower of the philosophy of Nāgārjuna. The term first occurs in the Vijñānakāya, an Abhidharma text of the Sarvāstivādins where a śūnyatāvādin is described as someone who holds that the concept of person (pudgala) is empty (śūnya). The term has been more generally applied to any adherent of his school, the Mādhyamaka.
