Maitri Upaniṣad
Maitri Upaniṣad. A late work written in the prose style of a brāhmaṇa. Its contents are varied, but it is valued particularly for its discussion of the distinction between the two forms of ātman: the eternal ātman ‘abiding in its own greatness’, and the bhutātman, the elemental self entangled in change, as a bird is caught in a snare.
