TREADWELL'S NECK, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK. 10 October 1781. At 4 a.m. Major Lemuel Trescott attacked Fort Slongo with 150 dismounted troopers of the Second Continental Dragoons and took the Tory garrison without losing a man. After destroying the blockhouse he withdrew across Long Island Sound with twenty-one prisoners and captured matériel.
