John G. Brokaw Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To assist in the college/university expenses of the dependents of sea service personnel. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen; a dependent or direct descendant of an active, reserve, retired or honorably discharged member of the US Navy, Coast Guard, US-Flag Merchant Marine, Marine Corps or US Naval Sea Cadet Corps; completing the final year of high school; and will be entering an accredited college/university. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on the application materials submitted and other supporting documents.
Funds Avail.: $2,500. To Apply: Applicants must prepare a copy of all applicable transcripts (grade 9-present); two letters of recommendation; copy of SAT/ACT scores; FAFSA information; proof of qualifying sea service duty; a personal statement (one page) on the reasons to be considered for the program; and a list of extracurricular/
scholastic activities (maximum of two pages). Deadline: March 3.

Criteria: Preference is given to applicants residing in California.
