Sergeant Douglas and Charlotte De-Horse Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To support American Indian students in their education. Focus: Military science and education. Qualif.: Applicants must be American Indian students who have completed one year of any Army, Navy, or Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training program; enrolled in an Army, Navy, or Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program; a veteran of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Merchant Marine or Coast Guard; and enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program of study. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on criteria.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application; letters of recommendation; personal essay; and high school transcripts. Deadline: April and September 15.
Remarks: The First Sergeant Douglas and Charlotte De-Horse Scholarship was established in 2007 to honor the American Indian veterans.
MESBEC Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To support the education of Native Schools. Focus: Mathematics and mathematical sciences; Engineering; Science; Business; Education; Computer and information sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be 1/4 or more degree Native American; an enrolled member of a “U.S. tribe”; attending or planning to attend a college/university within the U.S. on a full-time basis that is fully accredited; studying in the field of business, finance, management, economics, banking, hotel management, and related field; have excellent grades; high ACT or SAT scores; and have a strong commitment to their Native American community. Criteria: Scholarships are awarded based on merit.
Funds Avail.: $500-$5000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form (available at the website); financial need analysis; a copy of the IRS 1040 Federal Tax Return for the previous year; Certificate of Native American Blood; an essay explaining career goals; three letters of recommendation; official transcripts; a copy of standardized test scores; copy of letter of admission from an accredited college or university or graduate school and degree program in the US; and a photograph (2X3) of head and shoulders. Deadline: March 15, April 15, and September 15.

Purpose: To support paraprofessionals native students in Native American Schools planning to complete their degree
in education, counseling, or school administration. Focus: Education; Counseling/Guidance; Educational administration. Qualif.: Applicants must be 1/4 or more degree Native American; an enrolled member of a “U.S. tribe”; attending or planning to attend a college/university within the U.S. on a full-time basis that is fully accredited (college level and can range from bachelor's degrees to postdoctoral study); have excellent grades; high ACT or SAT scores; and have a strong commitment to their Native American community. Criteria: Scholarships are awarded based on merit.

Qualif.: Applicants must be 1/4 or more degree Native American; an enrolled member of a “U.S. tribe”; attending or planning to attend a college/university within the U.S. on a full-time basis that is fully accredited; studying in the field of business, finance, management, economics, banking, hotel management, and related field; have excellent grades; high ACT or SAT scores; and have a strong commitment to their Native American community. Criteria: Scholarships are awarded based on merit.
