Catch a Fire
Catch a Fire ★★½ 2006 (PG-13)
Fierce political drama centering on the Apartheid-era terrorism in South Africa during the early ’80s. Patrick Chamusso (Luke) is an unassuming oil refinery foreman wrongly accused, imprisoned, and tortured for a plant bombing. The injustice transforms the apolitical worker into a radicalized insurgent, who then carries out his own successful sabotage mission. Robbins plays the Security Branch Colonel on Chamusso's case. A decent script and good performances, but the dated material lacks a sense of urgency and importance. 101m/C DVD . US GB SA Derek Luke, Tim Robbins, Bonnie Henna, Mncedisi Shabangu, Malcolm Purkey; D: Phillip Noyce; W: Shawn Slovo; C: Ron Fortunato, Garry Phillips; M: Philip Miller
