Description:

Independent Mennonite, comprehensive, coed. Awards bachelor's degrees. Founded 1943. Setting: 44-acre urban campus. Educational spending 2003-04: $3240 per student. Total enrollment: 474. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 13:1. 300 applied, 93% were admitted. Full-time: 377 students, 56% women, 44% men. Part-time: 69 students, 57% women, 43% men. Students come from 7 provinces and territories, 6 other countries, 33% from out-of province, 5% 25 or older, 45% live on campus. Retention: 70% of full-time freshmen returned the following year. Core. Calendar: semesters. Academic remediation for entering students, services for LD students, independent study, double major, part-time degree program, adult/continuing education programs, internships, graduate courses open to undergrads. Costs Per Year:

Application fee: $35 Canadian dollars. Tuition, fee, and room and board charges are reported in Canadian dollars. Comprehensive fee: $8958 includes full-time tuition ($4260), mandatory fees ($304), and college room and board ($4394). College room only: $2030. Room and board charges vary according to board plan and housing facility. Part-time tuition: $426 per course. Part-time mandatory fees: $142 per credit hour. International student tuition: $7470 full-time.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 10 open to all. Most popular organizations: Oratorio Choir, Fellowship Groups, Christian Emphasis Committee, Peace and Social Concerns, Witness and Service Committee. Major annual events: Opening Week, Community Festival Series, Winter Retreat. Student services: personal-psychological counseling. Campus security: student patrols, late night transport-escort service, controlled dormitory access, combination door locks to sections of the campus. 195 college housing spaces available; 175 were occupied in 2003-04. Freshmen given priority for college housing. Options: coed, men-only, women-only housing available. Canadian Mennonite University Library with 85,000 books, 125 serials, and an OPAC. Operations spending 2003-04: $361,513. 40 computers available on campus for general student use. A campuswide network can be accessed from student residence rooms and from off campus. Staffed computer lab on campus.
