Wells, Joseph Merrill
Wells, Joseph Merrill (d. 1890). Member of the office of McKim, Mead, & White, responsible for introducing a revival of the Italian High Renaissance style to the firm from 1879. Early examples include the Villard Houses, Madison Avenue, New York (1882), and the Public Library, Boston, Mass (1888–95).
