Janyns, Henry

Janyns, Henry (fl. 1453–83). English mason, son of Robert Janyns. He was appointed Chief Mason of the Works at the Chapel of St George, Windsor Castle, Berks., in c.1475, and so was responsible for the foundations and early stages of the building. He may have designed the tomb of Cardinal Bourchier (d. 1486) in Canterbury Cathedral (c.1480) and the monument of King Edward IV (reigned 1461–83) in Windsor.
