Lidman was a well-known Swedish novelist who wrote socially conscious books often set in rural Sweden. In all, she published twenty-five books, most of which have not been translated into English. Exceptions include Naboth's Stone (1990) and The Village on Earth (1991). Lidman's last novel was Oskuldens minut (1999).
