Lie, Harald , Norwegian composer; b. Christiania, Nov. 21, 1902; d. there (Oslo), May 23, 1942. He studied piano at the Christiania Cons., and later received training in composition from Valen (1930). He was stricken with tuberculosis in 1932. His works were written in a late Romantic style. He withdrew a number of his scores: among those acknowledged are 2 syms. (1934, 1937), a Symphonic Dance, the scherzo from his unfinished 3rd Sym. (1942), several fine songs with orch., and choral pieces.
