SIDELIGHTS:

Brian K. Clardy told CA: "I find writing to be a joy for several reasons. It allows me to have a constructive outlet to express my own opinions and life experiences. But more importantly, it allows me to contribute to the marketplace of ideas. I love the give and take in the exchange of ideas.

"I am greatly influenced by the work of brilliant authors such as Studs Terkel, Michael Eric Dyson, and P. J. O'Rourke.

"My writing process starts with an interest in an idea, subject, or person. I simply build on my initial impressions and analyses. I give much thought to my subjects and draw from a variety of fields, including theology, history, current events, and popular culture.

"I have a lifelong passion for the liberal arts. In addition, I hold very strong views on politics, history, and religion. I am inspired to write about these vast subjects."
