Sikorski, Kazimierz
Sikorski, Kazimierz, Swiss-born Polish composer and pedagogue, father of Tomasz Sikorski ; b. Zürich (of Polish parents), June 28, 1895; d. Warsaw, June 23, 1986. He studied composition with Szopski at the Chopin Music H.S. in Warsaw (graduated, 1919); took courses in philosophy at the Univ. of Warsaw (graduated, 1921) and then pursued musicology training with Chybiński at the Univ. of Lwów; completed his musical studies in Paris (1925–27; 1930). He taught at the ód Cons. (1947–54) and the Warsaw Cons. (1951–57), serving as director of the latter (1957–66). Among his many students were Bacewicz, Panufnik, Palester, Serocki, and his own son. He publ.
