Scheinpflug, Paul

Scheinpflug, Paul, German violinist, conductor, and composer; b. Loschwitz, near Dresden, Sept. 10, 1875; d. Memel, March 11, 1937. He studied violin with Rappoldi and composition with Draeseke at the Dresden Cons. In 1898 he went to Bremen as concertmaster of the Phil, and conductor of the Liederkranz, and then was conductor of the Königsberg Musikverein (1909–14). After conducting the Bliithner Orch. in Berlin (1914–19), Scheinpflug was music director in Duisburg (1920–28) and of the Dresden Phil. (1929–33).
