Piccioni, Giovanni
Piccioni, Giovanni, Italian organist and composer; b. Rimini, e. 1550; d. Orvieto, after June 17,1619. He went to Conegliano, Veneto, in 1577 as maestro di musica to the “Magnifici Signori Desiosi.” From 1590 he served as organist at Orvieto Cathedral, and from 1616 he was also organist and maestro di cappella in Monte Fiascone. He publ. 9 vols, of polyphonic madrigals (Venice, 1577-after 1602) and 5 vols, of sacred works (Venice, 1589–1619).
