Paulus, Olaf
Paulus, Olaf , Norwegian organist and composer; b. Christiania, Jan. 25,1859; d. Stavanger, June 29,1912. He was a pupil of C.Cappelen and J. Svendsen, and also studied at the Leipzig Cons. From 1889 he was organist at the Cathedral in Stavanger, making a trip to the U.S. in 1902 and directing choral concerts in Minneapolis and St. Paul. In his native country he was highly esteemed as a national composer, and his men’s choruses were in the repertoire of all Norwegian societies. He also wrote songs and piano pieces, and ed. a collection of songs, De 1,000 hjems sange (Home Songs; 1888).
