Parmeggiani, Ettore

Parmeggiani, Ettore, Italian tenor; b. Rimini, Aug. 15, 1895; d. Milan, Jan. 28, 1960. He was a pupil of Mandolini in Milan, making his operatic debut there in 1922 at the Teatro dal Verme as Cavaradossi. In 1927 he made his first appearance at Milan’s La Scala as Max in Der Freischütz, and continued to sing there for a decade. In addition to his Wagnerian roles, he appeared in the premieres of Mascagni’s Nerone (1935) and Respighi’s Lucrezia (1937) there. In 1936 he also sang in the premiere of Malipiero’s Giulio Cesare in Genoa. In later years, he taught voice in Milan and led the claque at La Scala.
