Nat, Yves
Nat, Yves, French pianist, pedagogue, and composer; b. Béziers, Dec. 28, 1890; d. Paris, Aug. 31, 1956. A gifted child, he conducted his own orchestral Fantaisie when he was 10. After studying with Diémer at the Paris Cons, (premier prix in piano, 1907), he toured in Europe and the Americas (1909–34). He was also active as accompanist to Ysaye, Enesco, and Thibaud. From 1934 he was a prof, of piano at the Paris Cons. He was especially esteemed as an interpreter of Beethoven and Schumann. Among his compositions were L’enfer for Chorus and Orch. (1942), a Piano Concerto (1953), piano pieces, and songs.
