Kellner, Johann Peter
Kellner, Johann Peter, German organist and composer, father of Johann Christoph Kellner; b. Gräfenroda, Thuringia, Sept. 28, 1705; d. there, April 19, 1772. He received training from Nagel, the Gräfenroda Kantor (1717–22), and from J. Schmidt in Zella and H.R Kehl in Suhl (1722–23). Returning to Gräfenroda, he was made assistant to the Kantor in 1728; in 1732 he became Kantor. Among his students were Kirnberger and Rinck. His keyboard music, composed in an effective galant style, included organ preludes and fugues, suites, and variations.
