Kästner, Georges Frédéric Eugène (actually, Georg Friedrich Eugen), Alsatian acoustician, son of Jean- Georges (Johann Georg) Kastner; b.
Strasbourg, Aug. 10, 1852; d. Bonn, April 6, 1882. He invented the Pyrophone, an organ whose sound was produced by gas jets. He publ. Les flammes chantantes (Paris, 1875).
