Fox, Charles Warren
Fox, Charles Warren, American musicologist; b. Gloversville, N.Y., July 24, 1904; d. there, Oct. 15, 1983. He took courses in psychology at Cornell Univ. (B.A., 1926; Ph.D., 1933), and also studied musicology there with Kinkeldey. In 1932 he became a part-time instructor in psychology at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. In 1933 he began giving courses in music history and musicology, retiring in 1970. From 1952 to 1959 he was ed. of the Journal of the American Musicological Society. From 1954 to 1956 he served as president of the Music Library Assn.
