Fogg, (Charles William) Eric (b Manchester, 1903; d London, 1939). Eng. composer. Son of C. H. Fogg, who had been Hallé's organist. Chorister at Manchester Cath. Comp. ballet Hansel and Gretel and Scenes from Grimm for orch. when he was 15. His Dance Fantasy (1919) won a Cobbett Prize. Joined BBC in Manchester 1924 as accomp. and became ass. mus. dir. Also affectionately remembered as ‘Uncle Eric’ of Children's Hour. Other comps. incl. a str. qt. (1922–3) and a bn. conc. played by Archie Camden.
