English, Granville, American composer; b. Louisville, Jan. 27, 1895; d. N.Y., Sept. 1, 1968. He studied with Borowski, Reuter, and Gunn at the Chicago Musical Coll. (B.M., 1915), and with Boulanger, Haubiel, Riegger, and Serly He taught in Chicago and N.Y., and in 1961 was composer-in-residence at Baylor Univ.
