Cziblllka, Alphons
Cziblllka, Alphons , Hungarian conductor and composer; b. Szepes-Varallya, May 14, 1842; d. Vienna, Oct. 27, 1894. After a brief career as a pianist, he was active as a theater conductor and military bandmaster. He composed and arranged much dance music, and also the successful operettas Pfingsten in Florenz (Vienna, Dec. 20, 1884) and Der Glucksritter (Vienna, Dec. 22, 1887), which were performed abroad. Among his other operettas were Der Jagdjunker der Kaiserin (Berlin, Dec. 3, 1885; rev. version, Vienna, March 20, 1886), Gil Bias von Santillana (Hamburg, Nov. 23, 1888), Der Bajazzo (Vienna, Dec. 7, 1892), and Monsieur Hannibal (Munich, Sept. 5, 1893).
