Czobel, Lisa (1906–1992)
Hungarian concert dancer. Born April 2, 1906, in Hamburg, Germany.
Danced for many years with Essen Folkwang Dance Theater of Kurt Jooss and with his company in England; with rise of Nazism, worked in Switzerland and England before immigrating to US (early 1940s) where she performed with Trudi Schoop, another exile; appeared in numerous solo recitals (1946–49); as concert dancer, performed with Alexander von Swaine for many years after returning to Europe, appearing mainly in Germany and Switzerland.
