Biordi, Giovanni
Biordi, Giovanni, Italian composer; b. Rome, 1691; d. there, March 11, 1748. He was maestro di cappella at Tivoli Cathedral (1714–16), and in 1717 became a chapel singer to the Pope. He was named maestro di cappella at the church of S. Giacomo degli Spagnuoli in Rome in 1722, and remained in this post until his death. He also was a voice teacher at the Papal Coll. from 1724; was named secretary (1730) and then chamberlain (1737) of the Sistine Chapel. He composed many sacred works.
