Bastianelli, Giannotto

Bastianelli, Giannotto, Italian pianist, music critic, and composer; b. San Domenico di Fiesole, June 20, 1883; d. (suicide) Tunis, Sept. 22, 1927. He was mainly autodidact as a musician. After contributing to Florence’s La voce (1909–15), he was music critic of Florence’s La nazione (1915–18) and Bologna’s II resto del Carlino (1919–23).

La scala, opera (n.d.; unfinished); Poema for String Quartet (c. 1910); Piano Quartet (c. 1910); Violin Sonata (1912); Cello Sonata (1920); 5 piano sonatas (1907–17) and other piano music.
