LAMA, Dalai XIV. (Tenzin Gyatso). Tibetan, b. 1935. Genres: Theology/Religion, Autobiography/Memoirs. Career: Enthroned as fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet in Lhasa, 1940; named king, 1950; worked in China and Tibet to end Chinese domination of Tibet, 1950-59; escaped to India and began self-imposed exile, 1959; established Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamsala, India; has traveled widely in Asia, Europe, and the US.
