The Darjeeling Limited ★★★ 2007 (R)

Brothers Francis (Wilson), Peter (Brody), and Jack (Schwartzman) seek spiritual healing after their father's death on a cross-Asia trip aboard the Darjeeling Limited. Along the way, the three men struggle with each other and their own problems, including a (possibly intentional) accident that's left Francis's head in bandages, Peter's desertion of his pregnant wife, and Jack's recent breakup (chronicled in the companion short film “Hotel Chevalier”), until Francis reveals that their trip is taking them to their estranged mother (Huston), now a nun living in India. Anderson manages to capture the absurdity and humanity of the brothers while exploring the crises that have shaped their individual struggles for meaning and purpose, while infusing the film with his traditional detail-obsessed style. He and co-screenwriters Schwartzman and Coppola penned the film while traveling across India by, of course, train. 91m/C DVD . US Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman, Amara Karan, Wally Wolodar-sky, Anjelica Huston; D: Wes Anderson; W: Jason Schwartzman, Wes Anderson, Roman Coppola; C: Robert Yeoman.
