Kitty Vane (Oberon) loves both Alan Trent (March) and his best friend Gerald Shannon (Marshall) who are going off to fight in WWI. However, Kitty accepts Alan's marriage proposal. A misunderstanding leads to trouble and Alan is presumed dead. Actually, he's been blinded and decides not to return to Kitty after the war, so Alan changes his name and tries to make a new life. Meanwhile, Kitty has agreed to marry Gerald, although he knows she's still pining. Naturally, everyone finds out the truth in this sentimental weepie that got Oberon an Oscar nomination. 108m/B VHS .
