The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad ★★★½ 1949
Disney's wonderfully animated versions of Kenneth Grahame's “The Wind in the Willows” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving. Rathbone narrates the story of Mr. Toad, who suffers from arrogance and eventually must defend himself in court after being charged with driving a stolen vehicle (Disney did take liberties with the story). Crosby provides all the voices for “Ichabod,” which features one of the all-time great animated sequences—Ichabod riding in a frenzy through the forest while being pursued by the headless horseman. A treat for all ages. 68m/C VHS, DVD. D: James Nelson Algar, Clyde Geronimi; W: Winston Hibler, Erdman Penner, Joe Rinaldi, Ted Sears, Homer Brightman, Harry Reeves; M: Oliver Wallace; V: Eric Blore, Pat O'Malley, Jack Kinney, Bing Crosby; Nar: Basil Rathbone.
