American first daughter. Name variations: Luci Nu-gent; Luci Turpin. Born Luci Baines Johnson in 1947;youngest daughter of Lady Bird Johnson (b. 1912) and Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973, president of the U.S., 1963–1968); married Patrick Nugent, in 1966 (divorced 1979); married Ian Turpin (a banker), in 1984; children: (first marriage) five.
Following her marriage to Patrick Nugent, Luci Baines Johnson had to drop out of the Georgetown School of Nursing; undergraduates were not allowed to be married. Divorced and remarried, she raised five children and, with her second husband Ian Turpin, managed the Johnson family radio and real estate concerns in Texas. In 1994, Luci Johnson enrolled at St. Edward's University in Austin, determined to have her degree; she graduated with a 4.0 GPA. "These accomplishments," she told People Weekly in 1997, "are mine. They weren't given to me by inheritance."
