Haebler, Ingrid (1926—)
Austrian pianist known as a champion of neglected Schubert piano sonatas. Born in Vienna, Austria, on June 20, 1926.
Ingrid Haebler's artistry reveals many subtle touches. A specialist in the Austrian classical and Romantic school, she has long been admired both by professional musicians and the public for her interpretations of Mozart and Haydn. Haebler has championed the often neglected Schubert piano sonatas for decades. She is also a respected Schumann performer. Many critics have commented on her unique tone quality, and most of her recordings have received the highest critical praise. She has won several prizes, including the Harriet Cohen Beethoven medal in 1957. In 1969, Haebler became a member of the faculty of the Salzburg Mozarteum.
