Canadian runner. Born in Coventry, England, of Jamaican parentage, on February 28, 1962.
Winner of the silver medal in the 4x400-meter relay in the 1984 Olympic Games and a finalist in the 100- and 200-meter races in the 1983 World Championships.
At 16, coached by John Mumford at the University of Ontario, Angela Bailey first came to attention as a runner while competing in the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Later, she attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in the United States. In 1983, Bailey was a finalist in the 100 and 200 meters in the World Championships. In the 1984 Olympics, she was a finalist in the 100 meter (Evelyn Ashford took the gold) and won a silver medal in the 4x400-meter relay. She had bests of 11.17 (100 meters), 22.64 (200), and 51.96 (400).
